Climate Control System Maintenance and Repair
Air Conditioning and Heating
As they cannot rely on a constantly running combustion engine, hybrid and electric vehicles have alternative means to heat and cool the cabin.
Unlike internal combustion engine vehicles that generate heat to warm the cabin, electric vehicles use their own energy for heating and air conditioning. These systems play an essential role in passenger comfort and overall efficiency.
Heat pump systems are becoming common in electric vehicles to maximise efficiency. Just like their residential cousins, these systems heat and cool more efficiently than traditional air conditioning or electric resistance heaters.
Thermal Management Systems
The latest vehicles integrate air circulation, climate control and battery cooling into a thermal management system which controls the temperature of the cabin and battery to increase efficiency even further.
As these systems are complex, they are more challenging to diagnose and repair. Working on these systems requires specialist knowledge and equipment compared to traditional cooling systems.
If you notice abnormalities with your climate control system, have your vehicle inspected as soon as possible as the same system is also responsible for managing the temperature of the battery.
Cabin Air Filter Inspection and Replacement
The cabin air filter helps to remove pollutants and fine contaminants from the air entering your vehicle. We recommend your cabin filter be inspected or replaced according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
If you regularly drive in dusty conditions, have your cabin filter checked more frequently.
With the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system in constant operation, the filter is under great strain. If it is clogged, you could lose precious range due to increased heat pump operation.
Periodic inspections of the entire HVAC system will help ensure a more enjoyable and efficient driving experience.
